[Takes a breath and closes the distance between them so that she can reach over and cup the slash on Ace's cheek. Her touch feels very warm and gentle and betrays no lack of confidence, despite her earlier wariness.]

"I don't have tablets this time because we weren't expecting you yet. You'll have to finish up in here quickly before your hunger worsens. That is one thing even we can't control."

There's just that thing about that guy from Carnelian left, right? Where is it and how do I deal with it?

[It is indeed healing up! WHO'S USELESS NOW, ACE?

She removes her hand slowly as soon as that's finished.]

"The one who shouldn't be here? You know it's difficult for me to see things beyond the academy. But I'm pretty sure he's in Aather. And he has White Lily's key. I'm not really sure how to fix things, but he can't have that key. You know what it is."

Sounds like I should start by getting that key from him.

I should hope so, after all the work I put into locking him up in the first place.

Pretty much. You might want to check in every now and then, make sure everything's staying put.

"That won't be a problem."

Glad to hear it. Now, there's some other problem right? With that guy on Carnelian. Do you know where it is and how to fix it?

[His look darkens. Subtly. Ace is probably very familiar with this sort of reaction.]

"You'll find him by the maze. I hope you have better luck than us in dealing with him."

Oh yeah? What's he like?

"It's nothing about him personally. It's what he is. We can't affect a change like that. The key's intangible to us like this."

So I get the key from him somehow and...you can take care of it? Or should I just play it by ear?

"Getting rid of him too wouldn't be too bad an idea..."
