[You go right, yanking through more threads. As you move, you heard a child's voice faintly:]

"But why can't I just go inside? It's really cold out here and it just keeps getting worse."

[Thorn tenses.]

...You okay?

[Serious.]

"Fine. It won't be a problem."

...All right. Tell me if you need to turn back at some point; I should be fine by myself...

"I think I should stay with you..."

[Anyway, you continue to follow the voice until you come across a little boy holding something fuzzy tightly in his arms. The ground is inexplicably covered in snow. In fact, an icy wind is blowing through the maze now, pushing snow in every which way. The boy is shivering fiercely as snow falls heavily onto him. He also looks like he's been through hell, a bloody bandage wrapped around his neck, his clothes ripped and exposing various cuts and gashes underneath (some no more than old scars and some bleeding fresh) and his face liberally bruised.

He's also wearing a mask.

There is also another fork in the road behind him, with the usual left or right options.]

[Knight!Thorn is clearly on edge. Child!Zero just looks confused at the name.]

[throwing Thorn a concerned look, but walking closer to little Zero and crouching down]

Are you okay?

[Knight!Thorn is just watching closely, NOT HAPPY. The fuzzy thing in the boy's arms squirms. You can now tell it's a snow leopard cub. It stares at you with shiny, bright silver-lavender eyes, as its silver collar sparkles with a gem from every team color. It chuffs happily.

The child turns away a little before the cub speaks up.]

"We're fine. It's good to see you, Snow-san."

Oh-- Thorn!

...What's going on? I mean-- it's nice to see you too!

[Cub chuffs again and paws at a bit in the child's arms. Knight!Thorn seems to be smiling slightly at the cub, though NOT LOOKING at the child.]

"What are you doing way out here?"

...Looking for stuff that's... out of place. Are you sure you're both okay?

[The child still looks troubled, though he also appears to be trying to hide it. The cub nods eagerly and squirms out of the child's arms to pad toward Ruka.]

"We're all right. You don't have to worry. What are you looking for?"

I'm not sure. The big one's been helping me figure out what's not supposed to be around...

[but the tiny :(((]

[Cub nods.]

"He's a good knight. You can trust him."

[Child is glancing at the Knight!Thorn warily and shivering more from the cold.]

...Hey, do you want to get out of the cold?

[Glancing down at the cub, who immediately speaks up again.]

"It's not that cold. Please don't worry. We have to help you find what you're looking for, right?"
